Supported Internships

This provision is specifically designed for students with an EHCP, assisting them to achieve their full potential and learn the skills needed to get sustainable employment.

Discover Supported Internships: Your Path to a Sustainable Career

A Supported Internship is a full-time course teaching essential career skills alongside boosting your English and Maths skills to the required level.

You will learn by being in the workplace, where you will be matched with a local placement aligned with your goals, skills, and interests.

Our aim is to support students to learn the skills to manage personal challenges and to enable students to have greater independence in their learning and personal lives.

“I felt like I was ready to move on to adult life and get into work. This course is more grown-up because you spend most of your time in the workplace and learn the skills you need for the job you want.

My confidence has grown a lot. I enjoy helping students reach their goals, and it’s inspiring to see them smile when they achieve something.”

My Placement

Interns will learn about employment by spending time in a work placement.

Your placement will align with your career goals, skills, and interests.

Placement hours will change dependent on the business need as well as your capability.

Job Coach

A job coach is there to guide you in your work placement.

Whether you need help learning a new bus route to get you to placement, breaking down tasks, learning a new skill or working confidently with colleagues, you can rely on your allocated job coach to help you with what you need to succeed in your placement.

Getting you work-ready

The aim of a Supported Internship is to help you to progress in paid employment.

This course will develop your independence using English and Maths skills.

English and Maths

You’ll attend College one day a week to gain qualifications up to Level 2 in English and Maths.

Supported Internships are available only to those who are still working towards a Level 2 or GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English.
