16 June 2025
James was five days into the Level 2 Plumbing course and learning how to solder a copper pipe and used the tools provided with confidence.

When we spoke to James, he was five days into the Level 2 Plumbing course at EKC Plumbing and Electrical Training Centre in Ashford and learning how to solder a copper pipe and used the tools provided with confidence.

He had recently completed the Level 2 Electrical course at the same centre and was now training in order to add plumbing to his skillset.

How did you find this course at EKC Plumbing and Electrical Training Centre in Ashford?

“From what I found online and personal recommendations, this place came highly recommended. I attended an interview here. I was shown around all the workshops, and I fell in love with the place.”

What are your thoughts on the facilities and equipment available on the course?

“I am thoroughly impressed with them. Everything is modern. Everything is new. All the tools are industry leading standards. We use Milwaukee, Rothenberger and Stanley, Fatmax, and other high-quality equipment”.

“It’s really modern and updated here and it really shows.”

What is your experience with the Centre’s staff so far?

“The teachers are so passionate. I couldn’t find a single bad thing about them. Everyone’s come off the tools recently and they’re just passionate about getting people trained up and into the working world.

“They give me the skills that I need to be able to do the job, but it’s also the confidence as well as all the little industry tips that the teachers can give.”

Why are you studying Level 2 Plumbing after completing the Level 2 Electrical course?

“I want to go into renewable energy, installing heat pumps, air exchangers, solar panels and in order to do that I need to be qualified in electrics as well as plumbing.”

“From what I found out looking online and through your website, this place offers training for both of them and then can even lead on to the specialist training in installing air source heat pumps as well.”

“Chatting with Shaun (Head of the EKC Plumbing and Electrical Training Centre), he’s just recently come back from completing a training course, I believe in Germany, to do with the renewable energy centre, and it’s one of the only places in Kent that offer that sort of training. Hearing him talk about it and how passionate he is really inspiring.”
