4 June 2025
Leo chose the Apprenticeship route, beginning his carer journey as a Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice.

Upskill in your career with a Business Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships provide you with the skills you need for your chosen career, along with a nationally recognised qualification.

They are a great way to upskill into a number of  Business and Finance roles.

Neil started his journey working at The Chamber of Commerce where he was promoted to COO. This role included an HR element, and to upskill Neil began a CIPD-accredited Level 5 HR Apprenticeship.

Neil has secured his dream role in Corporate Partnerships at The Big Cat Sanctuary, which is a step he may not have taken without the confidence and skills built on his Apprenticeship.

“My advice would be to be patient, as you are learning new things.

“I’d studied Level 3 Business and Enterprise at school, so I came into this Apprenticeship thinking, ‘yeah, I’ll know some of it’ – but in reality, it was all very new to me.

“My advice is, just be patient, you will have to learn new things, but you’ll also have so much support given to you.

“I would 100% encourage others to do an Apprenticeship. I think it’s great to gain hands-on experience whilst learning, as I’m a very practical learner.”

“The Apprenticeship is teaching me real work and life skills, such as working with different types of people like other apprentices, colleagues and employers.

“I have learnt many transferrable skills that I can take with me anywhere. I barely knew how to write an email before, but I have worked on my weaknesses, focusing especially on Excel skills myself and think I have greatly improved my IT skills.

“I have also been offered various self-development courses, in areas such as time management and organisational skills.”

“The Apprenticeship allowed me to learn key practices and theories that supported me with becoming a Manager and how to lead people.

“From being inclusive and understanding of others, to ways of approaching difficult situations, my Apprenticeship helped me incorporate these into my role already.

“It gave me the skills, knowledge and behaviours that I need to do my new role to the best of my ability, and even ways to make it 110% rather than 100%.”
