Learners will work on developing the following knowledge, skills and behaviours:

• Understanding technical drawings and specifications and be able to create their own
• Identifying factors likely to affect design decisions
• Producing CAD (computer aided design) models and engineering drawings
• Communicating design information to internal and external parties

• Regular assessor visits at workplace
• Reviews in the workplace with Line Manager
• College workshop sessions weekly

At the end of an apprenticeship, the apprentice will go through a ‘gateway’ process where they are signed-off by their employer as ready for a final assessment of their knowledge and practical capabilities.

End-Point Assessment is the final test for apprentices during their apprenticeship. It is designed to be an objective and impartial assessment of an apprentice’s knowledge, skills and behaviours developed during the course of their apprenticeship programme.  The assessment will be conducted and graded by an independent End Point Assessment Organisation.

The final grade is made up of the results of the independent End Point Assessment (EPA) methods:

• Knowledge test (25%)
• Practical test (35%)
• Structured Interview (40%)

The specific entry requirements for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer.

Learners require GCSE Grades 4/C or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English. Maths and English are a vital part of your apprenticeship and can really support your progression on your chosen course.

If you do not already hold these levels of Maths and English, we have a friendly and experienced team of lecturers; who will support you throughout and arrange exams once you are ready. We deliver Functional Skills in a variety of ways; including classroom based and online study.

There are five main disciplines within the occupation of Engineering Design and Draughtsperson. An apprentice gains an understanding across all these disciplines and will typically specialise in one or more:

• Electrical Design and Draughtsperson
• Control and Instrumentation Design and Draughtsperson
• Mechanical Design and Draughtsperson
• Piping Design and Draughtsperson
• Structural Design and Draughtsperson

This standard has been designed to meet the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) in partnership with the appropriate institutions as shown below:

• Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) (for piping and mechanical)
• Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE)
• Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) (for electrical and mechanical)
• Institution of Engineering Designers (IED)

Professional registration is subject to candidates successfully completing this apprenticeship and undergoing professional review.

All Accounts/Finance Assistants will demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours:

• Understand transactional processes of accounting and their use within a finance function.
• Understand what makes a business or organisation successful, through either buying or selling products or supplying services to a market.
• Know a range of routine accounts reports, reports and their use within the finance function.
• Be aware of basic accountancy concepts and bookkeeping.
• Understand the cost recording system within an organisation.
• Develop an understanding of the differences between Financial and Management Accounting.
• Understands the importance of the need to keep up-to-date with relevant policies, procedures, regulatory or system changes.

What is required for occupational competence?

• The ability to examine data to identify issues.
• The ability to reconcile data to minimise the chance of errors.
• The ability to plan and review work.
• Recognise and rectifies errors.

Apprentices will also be required to take the professional qualification AAT Certificate in Accounting Level 2.

We must ensure that an apprentice spends the required minimum of contracted working hours developing the skills, knowledge and behaviours illustrated on the Standard. This is achieved via a flexible approach and also by using learning that occurs as part of the job role within the workplace:
