EKC Training apprentices celebrate at Kent and Medway Apprentice Graduation 2025
“I used to work in the care sector, in a lot of different areas – from elderly to EMI dementia patients – then I worked in a mental health care home for two and a half years.
“The Apprenticeship has opened my eyes to a lot of areas I didn’t know about mental health, because you can always learn more.
“It also made me come out of my shell; like how I started doing presentations, and I have now done many mental health presentations at the Hospital, as well as one at EKC Canterbury College.
“I would always be happy to do more to help teach others about mental health and I would recommend an Apprenticeship for anybody.”
“For my Apprenticeship, I’m employed as an Assistant Healthcare Scientist with East Kent Hospitals Foundation Trust, at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital.
“I have enjoyed working in Pathology for my Apprenticeship as it meant that I got to learn skills in all parts of the department.
“I’ve also learnt what ‘behind the scenes’ looks like in a hospital which has been really interesting.
“I would recommend the Apprenticeship experience to others as I believe it is the best decision I’ve ever made.”
