To make things simple, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about training to become a Plumber and where a Plumbing qualification could take you.

Where do I start if I want to become a Plumber?

Whether you’re a school leaver, looking for a career change or already working in construction, there are several routes into the Plumbing industry.

The best place to start is by gaining the practical skills and industry knowledge employers are looking for.

At our Plumbing and Electrical Training Centre, based on Wotton Road, Ashford, many learners begin with a Level 1 qualification before progressing onto Level 2 and specialist courses, helping them build confidence and experience at every stage.

Do I need any previous Plumbing experience for an EKC Training course?

No! Many of our learners start with little or no Plumbing experience.

Our courses are designed to help you develop core skills from the ground up, learning everything from health and safety and construction principles, to pipework installation and maintenance.

Whether you’re completely new to the industry or looking to formalise existing skills, there’s a course to suit your starting point.

Why is practical training important?

While understanding the theory is important, employers want people who can confidently apply their knowledge in real situations. That’s why practical workshop training plays such a key role in developing industry-ready skills.

Our learners spend time working with professional equipment and systems, helping them gain the confidence needed for employment.

What jobs can Plumbing qualifications lead to?

Many learners progress into self-employment and establish their own businesses.

Plumbing qualifications can also open the door to a range of careers, including:

  • Domestic Plumber
