The AM2 assessment is taken over 16.5 – 18.5 hours (2.5 days) and will test your learning throughout your apprenticeship.
It covers installation, health and safety, inspection and testing, fault diagnosis and rectification and applied knowledge.
Assessment sections and allocated time:
A1 – Safe Working Practices (45min + 10mins read time)
A – Composite Installation (8hrs 30mins + 15mins read time) *AM2
This comprisies of subsections:
- A2 – Installation of lighting and ring final circuit (2.25hrs)
- A3 – Installation of 3 Phase circuits (motor and socket outlet) (2.25hrs)
- A4 – Installation of heating system (2hrs)
- A5 – Installation of Main Protective Bonding, Safety Service (CO detector) and data circuits (2hrs)
A – Composite Installation (10hrs + 15mins read time) – *AM2E & AM2S

E – Assessment of Applied Knowledge – on-line exam (1hr + 5mins read time)
